צוות הקרב של חטיבה 401, נח״ל, ויחידות נוספות בפיקוד אוגדה 162 החלו הלילה בפעילות ממוקדת לחיסול מחבלים והשמדת תשתיות טרור במרכז רצועת עזה.
בטרם כניסת הכוחות למרחב, מטוסי קרב וכלי טיס של חיל האוויר בשיתוף חטיבה 215 תקפו במספר מטסים עשרות תשתיות טרור מעל ומתחת לקרקע במרכז הרצועה.
הפעילות המשותפת לכוחות המתמרנים ולחיל האוויר בוצעה בעקבות הכוונה מודיעינית מדויקת המעידה על הימצאות תשתיות טרור ומחבלים רבים במרחב.
במהלך המבצע הלילה, לוחמי חטיבת הנח״ל זיהו מחבל חמוש שיצא מפיר מנהרה בסמוך לכוחות ונכנס למבנה צבאי. מטוס קרב תקף את המחבל בזמן שנע לעבר הכוחות. כמו כן, לוחמי חטיבה 401 איתרו באמצעות תצפיות מספר משגרים במרחב.
במסגרת הפעילות, כוחות זרוע הים ביצעו מספר תקיפות לעבר מרחב החוף במרכז הרצועה כסיוע ללוחמים שפועלים במרחב.
